The Nor’easters are Northeastern University’s premier a cappella group. As the oldest group on campus, the Nor’easters have continuously striven to maintain the highest standards of musicality while still keeping the fun and love alive.
Most recently, they competed in the 2023 Boston Sings (BOSS) A Cappella Festival, where they won 1st place. Click here to watch their two-part set! They were also the champions of the 2019 National A Cappella Convention in Memphis, Tennesse and had the honor of being named the 2013 and 2017 champions of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, and the ICCA Wildcard Champions in 2015. The Nor’easters were also the feature group on the first season of PopTV’s docu-series, “Sing It On," performing with John Legend on The View and traveling to New York, Los Angeles and Australia to perform and promote the show.
The Nor’easters have been recording powerhouses, having been awarded Best Mixed Collegiate Album for 2013 (III), 2014 (Equilibrium), and 2018 (COLLECTIVE, Vol. 1) at the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs). Recently, They released their latest EP titled MOMENTUM, which won two CARAs for Best Pop EP and Best Mixed Collegiate EP in 2023. Check it out on Apple Music , Spotify, and more!
You can find them rehearsing Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, within the halls of Ryder. They share with each other not only the love of singing and performance, but also the desire for true friendships. Currently there are 17 voices making up the Nor’easters sound, and of course, a wonderful vocal percussionist rounding out the bunch. A very diverse group of students, the Nor’easters also perform a huge variety of music. Take a look at our Repertoire to see for yourself!
