About Us

The Nor’easters are Northeastern University’s premier a cappella group.

  • The Nor'easters have continuously showcased their exceptional talent through their remarkable competition history. They sit amongst very few groups that have won the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) multiple times, most recently scoring 447 points in the 2026 ICCA Finals, winning them their third championship.

    This victory adds to their impressive track record, which includes winning the 2023 Boston Sings (BOSS) A Cappella Festival, the National A Cappella Convention (NACC) in 2019 and the ICCAin both 2017 and 2013. They were also the ICCA Wildcard Champions in 2015.

    The Nor'easters had the honor of being the featured group on the first season of PopTV’s docu-series, “Sing It On”, performing alongside John Legend on The View and traveling to New York, Los Angeles, and Australia to perform and promote the show.

  • The Nor'easters have consistently achieved success with their exceptional recordings. Their music has garnered numerous Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARAs), showcasing their dedication to musical excellence.

    In 2013, their album "III" received an award for the Best Mixed Collegiate Album.

    In 2014, their album "Equilibrium" also secured the Best Mixed Collegiate Album award.

    In 2018, "COLLECTIVE, Vol. 1" received the title once again for Best Mixed Collegiate Album.

    Their most recent EP, "MOMENTUM," released in 2023, received two CARA awards for Best Pop EP and Best Mixed Collegiate EP.

    Their most recent album, “SUPERSONIC,” released in 2025, received three CARA award for Best R&B Song, Best Mixed Voices Collegiate Arrangement, and Best Professional Arrangement for a Collegiate Group.

    In 2026, The Nor’easters won four CARA awards for, “THE GREATEST,” including, Best Alternative Song, Best Indie Song, and Best Mixed Voices Collegiate Song.

  • The Nor’easters have an established history of notable performances. Most recently, they performed for the Boston Symphony Orchestra board of trustees and the Moderna company holiday party. They have graced the stage at Northeastern University’s Convocation ceremonies at Matthews Arena and Commencement ceremonies at the historic Fenway Park. Particularly noteworthy is their holiday performance at the White House in December 2023.
